Title: The Last Supper (Restored)

Artist: Leonardo Da Vinci (1452-1519)

Mediium: Mural(Fresco), Egg Tempera(yolk, pigment reconciled), on the wall of a eatery of a monastery.

Size: 421X903cm

Clarification:

This was 1 of the most famous work of Leonardo Da Vinci.

This landscape painting portrays the scene that Christ was having his final supper with his 12 apprentices before his being arrested. The ane sitting in the middle is Christ. And the apprentices are on 2 sides.

On this last supper, Christ said to his apprentices that 1 of them had betrayed him, thus each of the apprentices appeared different motion of both trunk and facial to that maxim.

The color and features of the painting should be quite bright and detailed before peeling off. Now information technology seems kind of dim and mistiness.

Analysis:

In this work, the artist had solved 2 main problems of perspective and instant, from one viewpoint to capture the space of reality to construct in the 2D wall, and the moment of the very event which the painting described. In full general, information technology is a construction with Christ who appears a triangle shape in the middle and his apprentices on two sides. The apprentices are basically divided in 4 groups, of 3 in each one. They are Thomas, Big James, Philip, Matthew, Thaddaeus and Simon from the right side of Christ, and John, Peter, Judas, Andrew, Trivial James and Bartholomew from the left. Information technology is a horizontal balanced work with varieties of motions in it.

Expression and motion of these 13 figures is dissimilar from each other. I can encounter acrimony, doubting, unbelieving, discussing, explaining and etc. Especially Judas who was the very one had betrayed his teacher. He seemed extremely terrified and ready to flee at any second with the expression of not believing what he had only heard. Yet in contrast to all his apprentices, Christ appeared quite calm.

Interpretation:

It is evidently that Leonardo was creating this piece of work based on ane of the scenes described in Bible ,( Chapter 26, "Matthew", "The New Testament"). The instant when Christ told his apprentices that he knew he would be betrayed, and it would exist i of them who betrayed him. The artist successfully portrayed this very 2nd past describing different motions and expressions of each character.

It is said that this painting had took Da Vinci 7 years to accomplish. In order to shape the effigy of these 13 images, Leonardo searched and tracked, bargained and fifty-fifty paid for the models he deemed could be the very one whose appearance could fit these characters in Bible.

The thing of interest is that it is said the prototype of both Christ and Judas were based on the very same person who appeared absolute pure and upright when Leonardo tried to express the image of Christ, yet became a murderer 6 years later when the artists tried to solve the concluding image of the painting who was Judas.

Details, though the colour of the painting has peeled to somewhat, yet "the one who has betrayed me is the one who is sharing the aforementioned disk with me". Therefore, the right hand of Christ is near the disk which is where Judas's left hand is trying to reach.

Also, contrast, particularly the dissimilarity between Christ and his apprentices. It tin be conspicuously seen that he is the i who is non impressed at any level of his astonishing words. With his arms spreading and eyes focusing on something beyond this supper, his apprentices, or fifty-fifty this painting, Christ in this work is purely divine.

Judgment:

To me, this is no doubt, an epic piece of work even with modernistic eyes to see.

With today's technique, work like this probably will not take vii years to finish, yet the edifice process and enquiry methods which Leonardo used during this work surely accommodate the age we are in, and possible volition adjust the future.

The standard of this painting is virtually residue and dissimilarity, as I encounter. This was rare elements of artworks in Da Vinci'south historic period. And the image of Christ likewise go the standard of Christ in almost all kinds of artworks.
